How much can a practice borrow, and how fast?

$25,000 to $2,000,000 on MedStream Capital’s in-house working capital, or a $25,000 to $500,000 line of credit, with a decision the same business day and funds 24 hours after you sign. Partner term loans and SBA 7(a) go to $5,000,000 but take 2 to 4 weeks and 60 to 120 days. Practices under 24 months old typically start at $25,000 to $75,000.

What sets your number

On in-house products the amount comes from your bank statements, not your credit score. We read four months of business statements for average monthly deposits, deposit count, lowest daily balance, negative days and any existing advance being debited. Time in business and payer mix shape the offer from there. The published floor is 6 months in business and $15,000 a month in deposits.

A line of credit has a published sizing rule: one to one-and-a-half months of average deposits, capped at $500,000. A practice depositing $140,000 a month typically sees a line of $140,000 to $200,000.

When you need more than $2,000,000

Bigger projects go to partner paper. A full practice acquisition can run $400,000 to $3,200,000, and partner term loans and SBA 7(a) go to $5,000,000. They take longer because the partner bank underwrites tax returns, debt-service coverage and, on an SBA acquisition, a 10% equity injection. If the seller’s date is sooner than the bank’s, MedStream Capital can fund a $40,000 to $150,000 bridge in 24 hours, structured so the SBA note takes it out at close.

Working capital has no single formula, so the typical files we publish, by practice type, are listed below the product table.

What you’ll need

  • A 4-minute application: business name, EIN, monthly deposits, amount needed
  • Four months of business bank statements, linked or uploaded
  • An active state professional or facility license
  • A U.S. business checking account in the practice’s legal name
  • A list of any open advance or loan
  • For partner term loans or SBA: the tax returns the partner bank requires

What the money costs

Our estimator’s default is a $154,000 advance over 12 months: $193,332 in total payback, a $39,332 cost of capital, about $3,718 a week or $767 a business day. Pay it off at the halfway point and you save up to $29,000. At typical pricing for an established practice, that advance runs $185,000 to $200,000 in total payback. It is a worked example, not a quote; pricing is set at underwriting.

If you have 24 months of history, a 600+ score, two years of returns and time to wait, a partner term loan will cost less, and we will say so before you sign.
